5th Element Events will be designing and producing the Celebration of Excellence which is an incredible gala honouring Mr. Morgan Freeman for all his contribution and dedication to combating racism and promoting knowledge and education worldwide.

Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem will bestow The Key of Knowledge Award at a gala in Toronto taking place at The Toronto Centre for The Arts. The evening will feature a question-and-answer period with Freeman, moderated by filmmaker Paul Saltzman.

Tickets are $180. Proceeds will go towards the Institute for Medical Research Israel-Canada and to establishing The Morgan Freeman Scholarship Fund for international students participating in the Public Health and Community Medicine Program at Hebrew University.

Our entire team at 5th Element Events is humbled and honoured to be a part of this incredible evening and we are looking forward to seeing our friends and family there!

Management Associate

This position will work directly with the CEO and will be responsible for aiding in the daily operations of the company.  Duties may include, but are not limited to…..

  • Client Care.
  • Site Visits.
  • Sourcing Suppliers.
  • Load in/Load out supervision.
  • Assisting in producing/managing on site.
  • Attending industry functions.
  • Administrative duties associated with any given project.

This is an entry level position.  Candidate must have some experience or have obtained a certificate from an event related program.  Candidate must also have relevant computer skills.

WINNER! Star Awards!

On Friday, March 23rd, 2013, the Canadian Event Industry Star Awards took place at the Hyatt Regency in Toronto, ON. Bringing together the entire industry to celebrate Canadian talent and creativity, it was a spectacular evening featuring performances by Chantal Kreviazuk, Susie O’Neil and burlesque mischief wrapped up in a Cabaret theme. It’s only once a year where we get to hang out with our peers and aside from the awards, it’s just a great evening to mingle and network.

When all was said and done, our team at 5th took home hardware for MOST OUTSTANDING EVENT UNDER $100,000 for the Canadian Hospitality Foundation Gala back in October 2012 at the Westin Harbour Castle! It is always amazing to be recognized for hard work, dedication and creativity, but to be surrounded by peers who ALL have put their heart and soul into their craft is the real winning spirit of the night! We are so honoured to be a part of such a tight  knit industry.

A NOTE FROM AARON KAUFMAN:

On the heels of our Special Event Gala Award we received in Chicago about 6 weeks ago, the Canadian “Star Awards” have been announced and I am so excited to be a finalist for the ‘Event Professional of the Year’ award. It has been nearly ten years since I opened 5th Element Events and the last year has been so satisfying in terms of my growth and education in the industry and the expansion of 5th Element Events. I am in this category with three other amazing professionals and am proud to be considered in such great company! I am excited for whoever takes this honourable award home… Good Luck!

Distillery Open House

On January 25th, 2013, 5th Element Events executed a wonderful design for the Distillery Events Open House. In the heart of the Distillery Historic District at The Fermenting Cellar, 5th Element Events Design Director, Marta Urbanowicz worked endlessly, bringing the space to life with a gorgeous dining room, plush florals and custom draping that showed why the 150 year old heritage space is one of the most sought after wedding venues in the country! Thanks to Contemporary Furniture Rentals who helped bring the vision to life with their incredible catalogue of unique pieces!

Gala Award Win!

Markham, ON,. On January 18th, 2013, 5th Element Events was honoured with an international Special Event Gala Award for Best Decor Under $50,000! It was the first time the event design firm was nominated and won on the international stage, ending 2012 with the highest honour in the industry. Representing the company in Chicago for TSE and the gala, Owner and Creative Director, Aaron Kaufman accepted the award, which came as a complete surprise!

“You never expect to win one of these, but when you do, you can’t help but think about where you were, where we are now and where you’re going next! My team has worked exceptionally hard over the last few years to get to this point and with this award comes responsibility to be even better for our clients and our industry as a whole.”

Now back in Toronto, 5th Element Events plans to step it up and represent the Canadian event industry even more. “With this win comes great responsibility and we plan on showing what we can do even more in 2013!” Kaufman says. A palette of yellows, greens and metallics brought out the beauty of the rustic interior of Toronto’s 150-year-old Fermenting Cellar for an industry networking event. To tie the disparate decor elements together, the design team used copper-colored metals as unifying details in chair legs, rivets, etc.

PF Chang’s Canada

On Wednesday, July 25th, Shops at Don Mills launched the first ever PF Chang’s in Canada! We were lucky to be a part of the celebration. Our team at 5th designed a custom light and lantern installation in the shops legendary Town Square. Families, children and couples come to Town Square to enjoy the tastes and sights of the shops while spending time with their loved ones. At night, the lanterns and lights shine bright and provide a unique atmosphere to the area. A great design and look for the opening of the North American Chinese Bistro.

Along with the light installation, 5th Element Events provided custom made logo’d red carpets and themed models who greeted guests as they arrived – An experience that came full circle.
